Trauma systems and initial response
Trauma team roles, preparation, triage principles, scene-to-hospital handover, patient safety and clinical prioritization.
Explore a proposed trauma education program built around structured initial assessment, clinical priorities, simulation and team-based emergency response.
ATLS® is a program of the American College of Surgeons. This CB Academy course is a proposed offering; official ACS ATLS status and availability have not been confirmed.
This proposed professional development course introduces a systematic approach to recognizing and prioritizing life-threatening injuries in the early stages of trauma management.
Designed for physicians and eligible clinical professionals working in emergency, surgery, anesthesia, critical care or pre-hospital settings. Final eligibility, learning outcomes and delivery requirements depend on the approved course pathway.
Provider: CB Academy (cb-academy.ca)

An indicative syllabus based on widely taught trauma-assessment principles. The final curriculum for any officially authorized ATLS course must follow ACS requirements.
Trauma team roles, preparation, triage principles, scene-to-hospital handover, patient safety and clinical prioritization.
Immediate control of catastrophic external bleeding; airway and cervical-spine protection; breathing, circulation, neurological status and exposure.
Airway assessment, oxygenation, ventilation, recognition of serious thoracic injuries and escalation to qualified clinical teams.
Recognition of shock, major hemorrhage, resuscitation priorities, reassessment and coordination of definitive care.
Head and spinal injuries; chest, abdominal and pelvic trauma; musculoskeletal injuries, burns and other special considerations.
Distinct considerations in pediatric, older adult and pregnant trauma patients, including communication and escalation.
Head-to-toe assessment, history gathering, diagnostics, ongoing monitoring, documentation and safe transfer decisions.
Team-based patient scenarios, structured handovers, rapid prioritization, reflective debriefing and practical evaluation.
Participants should expect preparatory reading or online learning before the practical course. The timetable below is illustrative.
A proposed multi-method assessment approach evaluates knowledge, clinical reasoning, and performance in structured scenarios.
Successful completion of an independently offered CB Academy trauma course would not, by itself, grant official ACS ATLS provider verification.
Official ATLS provider verification requires an ACS-authorized course, approved instructors, prescribed assessments and all applicable program requirements.
The proposed course tuition is set at USD $619 per participant.
Before accepting payment, CB Academy should confirm the delivery date, included learning materials, assessment arrangements, cancellation policy, instructor credentials and whether this is an independent trauma course or an authorized ACS ATLS offering.
